I am so excited to get started on my novel for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which is only a few days away. This is the first year I am participating under the category of romance. I made sure to hop over to the forums and check out the romance forum because until recently, I’ve always been in the YA category. Somebody actually asked me if I was new. Wow, is it that obvious? haha I’m not new to writing OR to NaNoWriMO (7th consecutive year) only new to the romance forum on NaNoWriMo peeps.
Looks like the romance forum is growing nicely and seems to be filled with people from every walk of life, and every level of romance fiction. That works for me. A lot of good questions are being asked, and thankfully they are not all by yours truly.
I still have so much to learn about what the romance publishing industry expects or looks for. I write. I simply write the story. But I don’t even know if the story will fit. Do I write too many words? Do I write too few? What type of romance am I actually writing? The longer books, or the short swallow in a sitting books? All of these questions can’t be answered, just like that.
I will see where my story idea takes me, and that will determine the answer. If you are participating in NaNoWriMo this year, and especially if you are a romance writer (but even if you’re not) friend me over on the forums.
