I’m actually shocked that it is day one of NaNoWriMo. I was not as prepared as I should have been. It seems like the month of October, has absolutely flown by. At the start of the month, I had originally decided to write a Young adult novel. But then I got to thinking, maybe this is the year that I should write my first romance novel during NaNoWriMo.
And so began the outlining and research, for this year’s NaNoWriMo. And yes, it is indeed a romance novel. Not my first romance novel, only my first during NaNoWriMo. Which shouldn’t be that hard considering that we have to write 50,000 words, and those sweet little romance novels seem to be right at about that. And about this time of year it comes as no surprise that this would be the word count that everyone should be going for.
At any rate, I wasn’t really prepared for starting right now. It isn’t that the plot isn’t there yet, it’s more that I still had research I needed to complete. Why do I always choose subjects I don’t know anything about, like military procedures. Or police procedures. The good news is, I actually have real life people I can ask about these things.
Were you ready to get started on your NaNoWriMo?
Have you already written your words for today?
I have decided that this year, if I complete my NaNoWriMo with my full 50,000 words, I will treat myself to a brand-new sweatshirt from the NaNoWriMo store. I want the black one, with NaNoWriMo written across it.
I am also doing NaNoWriMo differently this year. In previous years, I have always done the 1667 words per day. This year I am counting down backwards, kind of. There is a mathematical science to it, and others are doing it to. Basically you start day one, with the biggest word count that you will put in the whole month. The second day is just a tad smaller, and each day following is even smaller. Your final day will be one word. How cool is that? I always write more at the start, so this method seems it would work better for me.
Well, I need to go eat lunch, so I can get started on my writing after lunch. I will keep everyone up-to-date on Twitter. Please add me on Twitter, if you are doing NaNoWriMo, and you are interested in having someone cheer you on. You can also add me on the site. I will be getting a new username today. I write under a pseudonym, for my romance novels. So unfortunately I will be starting from scratch, on the site. Even though of course, this is my sixth year doing NaNoWriMo.
