Who doesn’t love a good margarita every now and again? It’s Cinco de Mayo and it’s time to celebrate in true Margarita fashion. How’s that? With a good old fashioned showdown. That’s right, it’s the Ultimate Margarita Showdown and Parrot Bay wanted me to give it a try. It’s a margarita… or two. I was game.
When the mystery package arrived, I couldn’t even figure out what it could be. I am pretty diligent about keeping records of what is coming and this box was HUGE! When I got it open, I was both shocked and excited. They sent me everything needed to complete this taste test all the way down to the lime!
So let’s get started…
Step 1: Salt the Rim.
Well, that was easy since the lime was included, as was the salt. I sliced the lime and rubbed it along the rim. Then I dipped Margarita glass A into the salt. I obviously repeated the process with Glass B.
Step 2: Pour the Margarita.
Pour the corresponding can into each glass. Note the color.
I couldn’t get past the gross color of can A. Is that supposed to be lime? I was really hoping that wasn’t the one I was supposed to pick because the color alone was bothering me.
Step 3: Take in the Aroma.
Waft your hand over the glass towards you and deeply inhale to take in the aroma of the liquid. Sure, okay.
Well, that was interesting. First, Glass A kind of smells… artificial, is probably the best word. It doesn’t smell bad. Just not like a real lime. Slightly like some type of cleaner. But I didn’t say that.
Glass B smells like a lime. It has an almost sweet smell, but just like lime. Nothing artificial about that smell at all. In fact, it almost smells tropical. Like a homemade margarita should.
Step 4: Taste
Yep, my favorite part. Let’s do this. Take a sip of the liquid and get a feel for the texture and soak in the flavor. After swallowing, completely take in the flavor experience.
Erm, I might have gotten a little carried away with Glass B. I really liked the flavor, and feel of it going down. In fact, I might possibly have poured a little more in and then tasted it again. And again.
Step 5: Decide
Time to decide which one you like best.
I’m sure by now and by what I said, you can tell which glass I chose. Obviously Glass B. I liked the color, the aroma, the texture and the taste of it. So much I’m kinda wishing I had more and am wondering if a trip to the store is in order. So what was Glass B?
I feel ashamed really. I’m a St. Louis girl and St. Louis girl’s are supposed to be Bud Light girls. And well, I’ve had Lime-A-Rita’s before and I liked them. A lot.
However, I have to say, that going up against a contender like Parrot Bay Margarita with Coconut Water and Lime is absolutely no contest. Hands down the better taste. I would choose Parrot Bay Margarita with Coconut Water every single time. Plus I really like Coconut Water. Like… a lot.
