Now, in case you get ahead of yourself and decide to scroll down without further reading what I’m going to say. I have no aversion to Dark Chocolate Cupcakes, in fact I love them. I also don’t really take issue with bacon being in cupcakes. This is not about either of those things.
I’m sure those that enjoy Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Bacon are … well, enjoying them.
Now, what this post is about is something different. I got my new issue of Taste of Home, my favorite magazine in the world. Every copy I own is dog eared, food splattered and well worn and loved. Eventually this one will be too.
However, included in my package with my magazine was an insert to order some of their books. I actually own quite a few, so I’m glad they sent it.
However, I saw this book and wondered how good it would be. I looked at the photo and saw Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Bacon. I thought, okay. Not really my thing to put bacon in my food, but I bet dark chocolate cupcakes will be good. So since the recipe is visible I decided to check it out.
Let me preface this by saying, before you leave me a comment, I’m sure this was done on purpose so you can’t copy the recipe, but….
Look closely at the ingredients. The first ingredient is an onion, then olive oil, then minced garlic. Hmm… I start to think. Clearly this recipe can’t be for cupcakes. That’s disgusting. Click it to enlarge it.
Well, long story short – it’s NOT for cupcakes, its for a soup I think, maybe a pumpkin soup? Which is a shame because if I could have seen if that recipe was any good (the Dark Chocolate Cupcake one)I might have ordered this book.
At any rate, I got a laugh out of it. I hope you did too. I also, hope nobody tries to make the cupcakes and think that at the end they will have dark chocolate cupcakes. Because the ingredients also call for pumpkin and they teach you how to make your own croutons for whatever this soup-ish thing actually is.
UPDATE: Guess what I found? First of all, the actual recipe is for Pumpkin Soup with Cinnamon Croutons, which sounds simply fabulous. I was kinda thrilled to figure out what the recipe was for. AND for all you bacon and dark chocolate lovers – guess what I have? The recipe for the Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Bacon. ENJOY!
